Jeff and I took a much needed restorative trip to the National Seashore on Cape Cod. I wish I could have gotten a picture of the 70+ seals we saw off the beach at Head of the Meadow, but that image lives in my mind only. I did snap a picture of this lovely live statue in Provincetown. She blew a kiss to anyone who dropped money in her tip bucket.

repurposing sugar water pouches

So I'm a teacher, and the kids I teach drink an inordinate amount of these Capri-Sun drinks, which I think are made entirely from water, sugar, and food coloring. It always drives me crazy to see all these plastic drink pouches going in the trash, so I recently started saving them (the kids are so excited to hand me their empty juice container!), washing them out, and making them into bags like this one. This is my first one, and I'm pretty excited about the possibilities. It certainly won't be hard to find the raw materials; I used about 24 pouches in this bag, and it only took me two days to save that many Capri-Suns!

Biddford, Hogfarm, Bunnies

What a beautiful night in Biddeford, Maine! Jeff and I went to play a show at the lovely Hogfarm Studios and were hosted by the even lovelier Coco, Gil, and Chloe (and their bunnies, Fuzzy and Blue Raspberry.) We kind of fell in love with this place; it's a little like New Bedford, an old mill town on a river. There seems to be a rich cache of talented musicians there, and we were lucky enough to play with Tin Ceilings. I feel more inspired and pushed to make music and art than I have in a while. Sometimes it just takes a night of music, late night Spanish wine, and a lazy morning with bagels and bunnies to get me going again.
